Wait 'Till Next Year? Dodgers' Lefty Blues

Yesterday, under April skies in the brisk Chicago cool, The Dodgers got chilled by The Cubs again, losing 2 of 3 games in an early season series that too soon brought back horrific memories from last season’s NL Championship Series defeat. Although shutting out the Cubs the previous night, the April 13th day game was full of missed opportunities for The Dodgers. Lanky and bearded Scott Van Slyke is hard not to like…but with an average of .154 for the season, he just can’t hit the ball. Especially not against lefties.
So-called slugger and could be Dodger saviour, Yasiel Puig, had a huge opportunity to take the lead with bases loaded  in the top of the 5th but came up short, popping out and ending the inning that could have been. Yasiel hit 3 HR’s in opening week, his potential glimmering in the Southern California sun, however he has returned to his old self in the past few games, striking, popping and lining out. Many ball players have strange affectations but Puig does this atrocious thing where, after a swing-and-strike, will jump up in the air and land on bended knees. I can’t stand when he does that and am afraid he’s going to get injured doing so. Foolish.
The Dodgers bullpen continues its magnificence but strong pitching isn’t going to cut it, when L. Forsynthe, K. Hernandez and A. Toles all miss the mark, your team gets shutout. Do the 5-5 Dodgers lack a super slugger, are they missing team chemistry or is there something darker than Blue underneath the rough start? Could the loss os Howie Kendrick have deleterious effects? There are no answers, only questions. Well, Dodger fans, prepare yourselves for another long season.
